Olivier Jamin created artwork for Silent History Exhibition at HiveJQ, Birmingham

Date: 17th August 2021 Category:

‘Silent History’ explores the Jewellery Quarters relationship with members of the d/Deaf, blind and disabled community through its industrial history, alongside contemporary reflection curated by artists Fae Kilburn and Olivier Jamin. Both artists have worked with groups across Birmingham to produce a series of works exploring the dreams and ambitions of d/Deaf, blind and disabled individuals, as well as discussing experiences of employment and workplace culture today. The outcome has been an exhibition that brings together art and language. The words displayed throughout the gallery are the participants own – powerful and evocative, they show how they see themselves and want to be seen, as well as how they feel within the workplace and barriers they face.
