Party!

Date: 4th May 2016 Category: , ,

This piece has lots of different connotations attached to it as in the Deaf community we use our hands to communicate; to come together and a wave of hands in the air shows our appreciation for in the same way that people who can hear use their hands to clap. People hold their hands in the air at concerts and at parties when dancing along to their favourite songs.

Hands are held in the air as a sign of celebration and victory, as was the case by the recent Leicester City F.C. Premier League Champion winners, 2016. Hands will be shook as a sign of respect in other sporting events which will take place over the spring / summer months too, such as Wimbledon. Sports people shake hands, cheer and embrace and celebrate their victories and commiserate their losses with team members and fans.

Hands can unite us all and there will be more celebrations to come as the Queen continues to celebrate this year, both her 90th birthday and longest serving reign of any monarch; a remarkable achievement.
